Coronavirus – Online tuition

During the Coronavirus crisis, Home Tuition Scotland continues to offer online support to students at all levels of further education and higher education, and primary schools and secondary schools.

We appreciate that this is a challenging time for all students, especially for learners with a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia, or other disability, such as ASC learners. We also know you will want to maintain your educational progress during this health crisis, however long it lasts.

Uniquely in Scotland, all of our online tutors are fully qualified, GTC Scotland-registered teachers and/or at least SCQF Level-9 qualified 3rd level support specialists. HTS is also a Disclosure Scotland-Registered Body and all tutors undergo stringent PVG Scheme checks and 2-stage interview prior to registration.

Please check theĀ fees page for online tuition costs.

Online tuition takes place using:

  • video conferencing (e.g. Skype, Zoom, MS Teams or similar)
  • online whiteboard facility
  • document exchange
  • email
  • telephone
  • enhanced security

All of our tutors and support workers have undertaken specific online tuition training as part of the current HTS induction process and follow best practice guidance.

On a positive note, many students have told us that they find online lessons as effective as face to face tuition, and that it can be easier to co-ordinate times with their tutor. Online lessons can fit easily into student and family schedules and the family and tutor have no traffic jams to worry about on the way to sessions.
